NMR PPSKTM

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

A spectroscopic technique that provides information about tha carbon-hydrogen framework of a molecule. NMR works by detecting the energy absorption accompanying the transition between nuclear spin states that occurs when a molecule is placed in a strong magnetic field and irradiated with radiofrequency waves.

NMR Magnet

The magnet generates the magnetic field required to induce NMR transitions. To maintain a superconducting system the magnet core is cooled to very low temperature using liquid nitrogen and helium.

NMR Console

This unit may be a NanoBay, OneBay or TwoBay bay depending upon the system and houses most of the electronic hardware associated with a modern digital spectrometer. The principal units are the IPSO (Intelligent Pulse Sequence Organizer), BSMS (Bruker Smart Magnet System), VTU (Variable Temperature Unit) as well as various amplifier.

NMR Work Station

The NMR Work Station runs the TopSpin program and handles all the data analysis and storage. All operations relevant to data acquisition are controlled by second computing system called IPSO (Intelligent Pulse Sequence Organizer) housed within the console itself.
